Current Conditions:
Tropical Storm Fred is predicted to skirt the west coast of Florida this weekend. Residents within LWDD’s service area should expect heavy rainfall with street flooding as these low-lying areas act as secondary detention areas. Due to the unpredictability of tropical storms, residents are advised to closely monitor local news for any changes in the storm’s direction.
Instructions:
Community emergency discharge control structures should remain closed today and throughout the weekend. Authorizations to open an internal control structure may be given to individual communities depending on the flooding situation. Additional instructions may be given after post-storm assessment conducted by LWDD staff.
More Information:
Check storm drains and swale areas and clear any debris that may slow or block the flow of water away from homes. Do not drive or walk-through flooded streets. Monitor local news for updates.
