Annual Landowners Meeting and Board Election
The Lake Worth Drainage District (LWDD) is governed by a five-member Board of Supervisors who reside or own property within the boundary of the LWDD. The Supervisors are elected to three-year terms by LWDD’s landowners. Their terms are staggered to provide that at least one Supervisor is elected each year at the Annual Landowners meeting. Landowners may vote in person by ballot at the Landowners Meeting or by proxy. The Annual Landowners meeting is held in January on the first Wednesday after the 3rd of the month. The meeting is held at the LWDD Office. Landowners are encouraged to attend and participate.

Candidate Profiles for January 8, 2025 Election
James M. Alderman was elected to the Board of Supervisors in February 2003. He represents Sub-District 1, which is generally located south of Okeechobee Boulevard and north of the District’s S-10S and L-28 canals, between the Florida Turnpike and State Road 7. Mr. Alderman is a graduate of the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science degree. Mr. Alderman owns and operates agricultural businesses in Palm Beach County. He is a member of the Florida Farm Bureau. Mr. Alderman’s goal for the District is planning for the dramatic changes that will occur as the County transcends from an agricultural community to a more urban society while protecting the integrity of the canal system in order to be prepared for storm events.
